430 Participants at the 24@CTF 2022: A Successful 2nd Edition

Co-organised by Cybereco, Polytechnique Montréal, PolyHX, Yogosha, Desjardins and Maltem Canada, the 2nd edition of the 24@CTF brought together nearly 430 participants, students, professionals and enthusiasts from Canada and elsewhere in the world, with an exclusive opening speech by Éric Caire, Ministre de la cybersécurité et du numérique.

Accessible to all levels (beginner to expert), this ethical hacking competition, which took place on February 5 and 6, 2022, offered various cybersecurity challenges. A new feature of this year’s competition was a “defence” component, which allowed participants to exploit vulnerabilities in software and systems through “blockchain” challenges, and a “blue team” component, all designed by PolyHX students. Also, thanks to the CTF101 training, offered by the École Cybersécurité, nearly 150 participants were able to develop basic skills and strengthen their knowledge of cybersecurity.

This 2nd edition was also an opportunity for the participants to network with the organisers as well as with Steve Waterhouse, Sous-ministre adjoint à la sécurité de l’information gouvernementale et à la cybersécurité

While this competition succeeded in revealing cybersecurity talent, testing knowledge and learning about cybersecurity, some participants stood out and won one of the prizes offered to the winners.
